Our goal for the summer program at Enep’ut Children’s Center is to provide school-aged and preschool children with a fun, interesting, hands-on learning experience outdoors on the playground as well as on occasional organized field trips. Our lessons concentrate around a student-maintained vegetable and flower garden as the summer progresses, including composting and a center-wide recycling program. This way they can learn about the cycle of life in nature, and reap the bounty of the harvest in a hands-on experience of their own at the end of the growing season.
Also, we are happy to join the Noel Wien Public Library in their summer activities for children. The library offers story time and crafts twice a week, as well as a summer book program.
School-age Summer Program (for children 6-12 years)
We provide an active learning environment where the children attend hands-on lessons and are able to connect what we discuss with what they are experiencing. Our weekly subjects are based on what the children are interested in learning and what new things we discover as the weeks go by. The school-age children may participate in field trips, including nature walks, to destinations such as Creamer’s Field, UAF Museum of the North, UAF Large Animal Research Facility, Calypso Farm, and Noel Wien Public Library. Enep’ut provides transportation or uses the FNSB bus system. We also walk to places close to Enep’ut, such as the Farmer’s Market and Gulliver’s Books. We want your children to have a great summer full of intriguing, interesting projects that will both challenge them as well as focus them on things they have been learning during the regular school year.

Preschool Summer Curriculum (for children 3-5 years)
During the summer, our pre-schoolers spend as much time as possible outside learning about nature, playing games, and really just being kids. The preschool curriculum is similar to the School-Age Summer Program except it is designed for the developmental level of younger children and contains time for naps. Please join us for a summer of fun at Enep’ut Children’s Center!
