This Week

Sorry for the late post! Here are a few of the activities we have done with our preschool classroom as of late. We’ve been very hands on and messy, it makes it hard to take pictures. But I managed to snag a few!
One of the activities we were making Aqutuk “Eskimo Icecream” for this activity we focused on fine motor and sensory, the preschoolers used butter knives to slice strawberries and then felt the texture and taste difference between blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. And then came the fun part! Mixing in the vegetable fat. Traditionally it is made with animal fat but because we did not have any easily accessible, we substituted.
The second activity we were making homemade, southern style drop biscuits. For this activity our focus was on measuring out the correct amount of each ingredient and making sure that the measuring scoop is level to prepare for future more complex activities. The children have expressed an interest in making our own pizza so we are working on developing the basic skills necessary to get to that level! We hope pizza comes soon!
